Our commitments
- Certification decisions are based on objective evidence of conformity and are not influenced by commercial or other interests.
- Potential conflicts arising from ownership, governance, personnel, relationships, finances or prior activities are identified, evaluated and controlled.
- Personnel involved in audits, reviews and decisions disclose relevant conflicts before assignment.
- Certification decisions are made by competent persons who were not involved in the audit.
- Pressure from clients, partners, employees or other parties is not permitted to compromise impartiality.
- Complaints and appeals are handled through defined, independent and non-discriminatory processes.
Responsibility
Top management is responsible for safeguarding impartiality, providing appropriate resources and ensuring that risks are regularly reviewed. All employees, auditors, committee members and external resources share responsibility for reporting potential conflicts.
Public confidence
Where a threat cannot be eliminated or reduced to an acceptable level, the related certification activity will not proceed.
